iPadOS & iOS 13.1 available now, a week earlier than expected


iPadOS is Apple's latest operating system for the iPad built on the foundation of iOS. The iPadOS is compatible with all iPads today despite it was set to release on September 30th. The iOS 13 was just rolled out last week and iOS 13.1 will not bring major feature changes other than some Emoji changes according to Emojipedia, to your Apple device. You should expect some bugs fixes and improvements in performance since this update is focused on fixing most of vulnerabilities the vulnerabilities that were found in its predecessor -- hence the earlier release.

The anticipated iPadOS will bring enhancements and adds a multitasking experience for users. iPadOS is available now on an iPad Air 2 or later, an iPad Pro, a fifth-generation or later iPad, or iPad mini 4 or later. Alongside iPadOS, Apple is also releasing iOS 13.1 to compatible iPhone devices today.

The new update will be available on all iPhone models starting from the 6s. This is the complete list of devices.

As announced at WWDC 2019 back in June, iPadOS is compatible with the :

  • iPad (5th generation)

How to download?

The method for both software update is similar. Your device must be plugged in or have adequate battery before downloading.

  • Go to Settings > General > Software Update. This will begin the process of checking the new updates on your Apple device. Once iOS 13.1 or iPadOS is available for your device, you'll see a screen that will ask to begin the download process.
  • Now, tap Download and Install to begin the download process.
  • This will begin the download process of iOS 13.1 or iPadOS. The speed of the download notably depends on how fast your Internet connection is. It is also important to point out that you need a Wi-Fi connection specifically if you're about to download the update on an iPhone or iPod touch that doesn't run iOS 13 or on an iPad.
  • Once downloaded, tap Install to begin the installation of iOS 13.1 or iPadOS on your device.
  • Tap Agree when you see Apple's Terms and Conditions with respect to the new software package and its features.


Your device will restart to complete the software installation.



How to download and install iOS 13.1, iPadOS via iTunes

Alternatively, you can use the iTunes system to download your software update. All you need is a Mac or PC with the latest iTunes version installed. Follow these steps to get your update ready


  • Connect your compatible iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad to your computer using a Lightning cable.
  • Open iTunes and then your device's icon will be visible near the top-left corner. Just click that icon and then Summary from the left pane.
  • You'll now see the Check for update button. Click on that button to find the latest update for your device.
  • Now, hit the Download and update button and then follow the on-screen instructions to accomplish the download process.
