Here's your weekly report on the news and trends that were covered in the tech space. This week features Apple, Huawei, Microsoft, Bitcoin and Google. 


In no particular order, we start with Apple's showcase this week.


1. Apple launches AirPods Pro ($249)

Apple made sure its AirPods are universally recognised thanks to its trademark design. One amazing feat about the AirPod Pro is its noise cancellation feature with a better sound experience all in a light-weight design. The AirPods comes with in-built microphones that detect external sound and the earbuds cancel them out, exactly how the Beats Solo Pro headphones operate. 2. iOS 13.2 released

Following the release of the new AirPods Pro Apple released another software update (iOS 13.2) mainly to provide compatibility of the AirPods Pro with their already existing devices including the iPhones, iPad and Mac. You might think this update only addresses the compatibility issues but it doesn't end there, there are more exciting features. Read more.

3. iOS 13.2 brings new emojis and improves image quality using the deep fusion feature in the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro

After a long wait (since its announcement at the Apple Event )  A major feature included in this and it is their inclusion of the long-awaited Deep-Fusion camera mode for the iPhone 11 and 11 Pro. The Deep Fusion camera mode was introduced in the previous beta. And is designed to use AI and other software tricks to improve the sharpness of images as announced during their iPhone 11 review at the Apple event. Read more.

4. Here's how to delete your Siri recordings in iOS 13.2

The latest iteration comes with a more transparent way of dealing with Siri data. The company has also stopped sharing audio recordings with human staffers in order to improve the service. This privacy feature allows you to clean up Siri interactions associated with the specific iPhone or iPad from Apple server. The compiled data is not associated with the device won't be eliminated. 5. Huawei's next phones would be the first to run on 'dual' OS

Recent reports and rumours suggest that the company is considering producing devices with two operating systems pre-installed. The two operating systems which will be installed are the open-source version of Android as well as their own Harmony operating system. This is a common practice when it comes to laptop and desktop computers where after installation of your preferred operating systems, you can choose which one you want to boot into anytime you start your computer. 6. Microsoft unveils new Edge browser logo that no longer looks like Internet Explorer

Microsoft is refreshing the logo for its Chromium-based Edge browser. The software giant originally unveiled its Edge icon more than four years ago, and it’s fair to say it was a logo that clung to the past of Internet Explorer. The logo also spells out the letter e, but it no longer looks similar to Internet Explorer and looks a lot more modern as a result.

Now, here's an extra level of security. Good news for Android users.

7. WhatsApp’s fingerprint unlock feature is now on Android

WhatsApp has announced that its app can now be locked with a fingerprint on Android. Turning the feature on means you’ll need to use your fingerprint to unlock the app even after unlocking your phone. It’s an extra level of security similar to what you might find in a banking app.

8. Google buys Fitbit for $2.1 billion

Google has just announced that it’s buying wearable company Fitbit for $2.1 billion. In a blog post announcing the news, Google SVP of devices and services Rick Osterloh said that the Fitbit purchase is “an opportunity to invest even more in Wear OS as well as introduce Made by Google wearable devices into the market.”
