There is an advanced malware that can spy on nearly every andriod smartphone and steal passwords,
photos and other forms of data from WhatsApp. The malware known as "ZooPark" is believed to have evolved over four generations having started as simple malware that could "only" steal device account details.
The last generation can monitor and ex-filtrate key logs and other private data. Other sources suggest that a group of hackers were able to obtain the malware from a secured agency in the world. That's one of the reasons why companies like Apple don't trust agencies with device backdoors.
